Your 'Future': Safe in Gordon Brown's Hands

"We are proud of our record on civil liberties ..."
(Labour Manifesto, April 2010)

So how does that work, then ?

"A protest march to fight the Government's decision to close RAF Cottesmore has been called off due to safety concerns. The Campaign to Save RAF Cottesmore group had hoped to march through the streets of Cottesmore up to the air base on Sunday, April 11. But following meetings with Leicestershire Constabulary and the RAF Police, the group was told the march would present 'significant risks' to those taking part"
(Rutland Times, April 2010)

"We are proud of our record on civil liberties ... but we are also determined to keep our streets safe"
(Labour Manifesto, 2010)

Ah yes, safety concerns. How safe we all feel now.

The only safety Brown is concerned about is the safety to remain in his Westminster bubble.

Significant risks, my arse.

The only significant risk is the risk that they might all get rounded up by Plod, fingerprinted, DNA'd, beaten up, and put in the cells.

Didn't East Germany teach us anything?

Thanks for this - another instance of the police being hamstrung by pettifogging regulations that were put in place for political reasons.

Yep, I feel so safe I won't buy that shotgun I was going to get.
